Quick-Start Guide

Thanks for joining Connected Intersections — you're now officially registered! We’ll be sending you regular updates throughout the challenge.

Read on and kick off your project today. Submissions are due September 9, 2014 at 5pm ET.

  1. Get inspired. Explore relevant research, APIs, data, and solution approaches on the Resources page. The paper “Exploring how mobile technologies impact pedestrian safety" by AT&T and NYU's Polytechnic School of Engineering is recommended for all participants.

  2. Brainstorm. If you've ever driven, walked, or cycled in a congested city — you know how chaotic it can be. How will you leverage smart phone technology and wireless networks to reduce collisions between vehicles and pedestrians (including cyclists) in urban street environments? What type of app, wearable device, or technology will you create?

  3. Choose a category. Will you create technology for a) drivers or b) pedestrians & cyclists?

  4. Get a head start. Fill out the basic fields on the application and save it as a draft today. This will give you a good idea of what you'll need to put together before the deadline.

  5. Optional: Form a team. Thinking about buddying up? Visit the Registrants page to connect with fellow participants who are looking for teammates.

We can't wait to see what you'll create to connect people in traffic and keep pedestrians safe and alert. Good luck!
